Dr. Marc Brooks – Pastor
Marc Brooks has served as pastor at GBC-Richlands since February 2012.
Pastor Marc’s passion is to see people come into a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. His vision for the local church is a spiritually healthy and vibrant community of believers growing together, faithfully trusting God and demonstrating love toward one another.
Pastor Brooks is a graduate of The Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida, with a bachelor’s degree in English, and of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina, with a Master of Divinity. He also holds a Doctor of Ministry degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.
Marc’s life ambitions are holiness and intimacy with God, integrity and authenticity with others, and a loving biblical influence on our culture.
Chris Hess – Minister to Students
Christopher (Chris) Hess became Youth Pastor at GBC in June 2019.
Chris finished his undergrad in psychology he started attending GBC in 2015. He completed a Master of Divinity from Liberty in December 2018 and is currently co-vocational working as a Success Coach at Southwest Virginian Community College. Pastor Chris also serves as an advisor for Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU)
Chris has been married since 2014 to his lovely wife Chelsey. She has a love for student ministry and served as a ministry leader before meeting Christopher in northern West Virginia.
They had their first daughter, Berkeley, in February 2018. Chris and Chelsey both share a love for Disney, love taking selfies and laughing. They love their German Shepard and two cats.
Chris has a passion for reading and listening to a podcasts about God. His favorites being John Piper, Albert Mohler, Charles Spurgeon, and R. C. Sproul. He has coached Rec league soccer and baseball for several years in the Richlands area. Chris has a nerdy side to go along with his passion for sports, and zeal for God – anything Marvel, Dr. Who and Wrestling. He has a strong desire for fitness and loves weightlifting.
Chris strives to use his past experiences and working with youth and athletics to reach young people, and make a difference in the community of Richlands.
